Maurice Paul Bower

Forever
(A Requiem)

Now I am the dust
that dances in the sun
Now I am the breath
that moves in everyone
Now I am the glitter
on wavecrests in the night
Now I am the stuff of stars
and the rainbow's light

Now I am the acorn
that falls upon the lawn
Now I am the birdsong
that calls in each new dawn
Now I am the beauty
inspiring every eye
Now I am the echo
of a fond goodbye

Now I am the water
that slakes every thirst
Now I am the bread
that feeds the hunger-cursed
Now I am the mightiest
who humbles to the meek
Now I am the strongest
tending to the weak

Now I am the love
that endures eternity
Now I am the flame
that rises in the free
Now I am at peace at last
my soul will rise to sing:
Now I am forever
a part of everything
