Song For Sea Otter

By Ocean's edge
By quickening Moon
In silver circle's ring
The power of light
On water
Calls the heart to sing

By Esbat ebb
By clawing waves
The dark is drawn away
As towering foam
On thunder
Brings in bright new day

Between the worlds
The Otter swims
Both light and dark bewitched
This shore emptier
Without her
The Summerlands enriched

For Hilary, Sea Otter,
Village Witch of Brockenhurst,
March 2001.

May her journey be Blessed.
