Starwalkers

We are the first of many
we are the first of men
to tread beyond Earth's darkling veil
to ride the breath of Zen

Beyond our shadowed timespace cell
we find the black black night
that opens our eyes wider
so we may see the light

Walled in by airless darkness
like pinioned moths we wait
while Gods, Stars and Technology
join battle for our fate

Amidst entropy and chaos
viral cosmic anarchy
in a pulsar's song we may perceive
the thread of harmony

Destined to shape a crown of stars
mankind will be revealed
to be forgotten when the grass grows fresh
upon the unified field

And for our sin of vision
we trade our sanity
to leave a footprint in the void
for all humanity
